The Last Week

The week before Easter and my last week of being off of work. Although I have been doing some small task to get ready for work, we aren't officially starting until April 5th. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather holds through the spring and we don't get dumped on with snow and cold. We sure have gotten spoiled! The older I get the more of a fair weather gardener I become. During this week I am going to work in my garden to get it cleaned up for the start of an exciting season.
Robin and Nora and getting married this summer as most of you know so that gives me even more reason to get the gardens looking their best. I recently found out that 'Funkie Gardens', one of my favorite places to find unusual plants was sold and is moving closer to Stillwater! That could be good or bad.
And I am so glad to see that the 'Holland Baby' is back in the Blogging World after a short rest. Welcome back: ) Happy Easter to everyone; hope we all have a great spring. Go Twins....

Home again

Back to normal after a great week with my family in New Holstein. I think Mom is doing pretty well after the carpel tunnel sugary on March 8th.

I had a chance to see everyone here and there and got a chance to play games on a game night; thanks Lori, it was a lot of fun. I had such a good time I didn't take very many pictures.
I do believe that Ridley was glad to see his Nana again after a week, I was happy to see him again. What a little charmer.

This week I have a few things to do to get ready for my work season and I will be back to work on the 5th of April. So that is a sure sign that spring is just around to corner. The St Croix River is very high and the lift bridge is going to be closed until the high water subsides. This will reduce the amount of traffic in town.
So now just a little reminder; when raking the lawn, ware gloves. Have a great week.

Spring has arrived

The weathermen were off a little on this spring/summer like weather the last two days. We got quite a bit done outside and Jeff took his first ride of the season. Even seeing a few daffodil tip stick out of the ground. We had our first burgers on the grill, they were great.

I am off to get a couple things done before taking off for the week. I sure hope that eveyone is having a great day too.

In like a Lamb

Looks like another family member got a new car. Yesterday I saw the first motorcycle for the season, and no it wasn't Jeff. I did do a double take just to make sure it wasn't. Last year Jeff's first ride to take it in for routine service was February 25th. I don't believe he has really thought about it too seriously yet.

This Helen Jacobs painting reminds me of spring. Today is the first day that I have opened a window in the house! It's nice to hear the birds and smell the fresh air. Still feels a bit chilly, so the window won't be open too long, but, I have spring fever.

The first week of March has certainly been like a 'lamb' this year. The snow banks are retreating and leaving behind the dirt and turds that were hidden all winter. Wow what a mess. But I can see the fountain in the garden and the path is becoming more apparent than it was even a couple days ago.
I recently got a new garden tool called a Japanese Digging Knife; and I am looking forward to finding all the cool things this knife will be used for. I'm thinking it will be great to cut back the perennials from last season and cutting sports from the hosta. I'll come up with more as the season presents it's self. I am impressed at the edge of the blade; I'll see how long it keeps the edge in the garden. Don't think I would be able to ware it into a store,(not that I would) it's just over 6 inches long! Wish I would have had this in the days I was silly enough to lay sod, that isn't happening again so I will also use it to divide plants.
I have a couple house plants that I decided needed some fresh soil so off I go to get my hands in the dirt. Hope all of you have a great afternoon too.
